This real beauty is present in the wilder areas left in the UK mainland and I have seen it from the North of Scotland's East coast, to the Cornish cliffs. It seems equaly present in other places I have visited in Europe. Most joyously, I now know of a small hillside within 5 miles of my home where it flies, and my son saw a vagrant individual last year at the bottom of our garden.... I have plenty of violets... who knows, maybe, just maybe... ?

What about a butterfly photograph of this one in your garden?!!
