Aricia artaxerxes - Mountain Argus
I have seen this species more in the Alps than in the UK. In Scotland, the subspecies has quite pronounced white spots on the forewings, and occasionally the hindwing uppersides. The Alpine version is also shown, lacking the white markings.
It is a skittish species, fond of steep hillsides, and it can be quite hard to achieve a decent butterfly photograph.
