The yellow surrounds to the eyespots distinguish this species from the last, and they often fly together, although this is the more restricted in range. Speciation of these two from the arcania (next page) and each other has been the subject of much study, and debate, and makes for interesting reading if searched for. 

Like other species of Heaths, it can make for a very attractive butterfly photograph.
