Coenonympha dorus - Dusky Heath

This was a rather exciting find in the foothills of the Mediterranean Pyrenees and later in Northern Spain. They were present with the Striped Grayling and others, on a small mound of dusty scrub, where for much of the walk there had been nothing to speak of. I often wonder why this seems to happen with butterflies, as I have noticed the same elsewhere, clusters of activity. Maybe it has something to do with subtle and very local microclimates.

Despite being somewhat worn, each allowed for a decent butterfly photograph.
