This is a very common European butterfly, but very rare in the UK, where the two butterfly photographs below were taken. The left sided shots of male above, and female below, were taken in France and Italy respectively.

Below these, is an aberrant form, something again not uncommon in this species. At the very bottom on the left was a photo from Northern Italy in 2013.
