Neptis rivularis - Hungarian Glider

Neptis-rivularis-Hungarian-Glider | PTKbutterflies

This was seen in Northern Italy where it flies in deep gorges, near streams where it's food-plant grows.

Superficially similar to the White Admiral on the previous page, the wing shape and banding differ considerably on closer inspection.

Although many were present when I saw them, butterfly photographs were very hard to achieve, as in the heat, the butterflies rarely settled and were easily dislodged by nearby movement.

Hopefully I will have better images to show for my paddling in the future.
