Pyrgus onopordi - Rosy Grizzled Skipper

This species has early and later broods. I have only seen it, as above, in the Var in France in the early brood in April. The most apparent distinguishing feature is the anvil shaped underside hindwing cellular spot. The upper side appears to me to be rather brownish with forewing basal bronze dusting.

It eventually turned up again in June in the Haute-Savoie, giving me a further unmistakable underside butterfly photograph.
