Aphantopus hyperantus - The Ringlet
A very common butterfly. I see them in my garden every year, as well as almost everywhere I have been in Europe. Often overlooked as worthy of taking a butterfly photograph.
Below the male, then the female on the left, is a photo of ab. pallida seen on an Alpine mountainside in the Haute-Savoie.
Below that and across, are ab. lanceolata seen very close to where I live, on one happy occasion.
Lowest of all is a very old photo of ab. arete, not seen one since!
