My first encounter with this butterfly was in Southern France. Frustratingly it stayed a distance the other side of a barbed wire fence, hence the rather distant and sub-optimal photographic result... but in 2019 I have had a more lengthy exposure to it, and have realised that in the Andolucian heat it prefers skulking in the shade and is difficult to photograph... These further images were the best I achieved... still leaving something to be desired, but not bad....
