I have seen this only once so far, in the Southern French Massif des Alpilles. It was fresh, but did not behave itself for photographs, being quite skittish in the middle of the day. However, I think it was egg laying, hence resting intermittently. The background it chose was again frustratingly unhelpful, but regardless of all that, it is another very welcome addition to the number of species I have butterfly photos of.
