Pieris napi - Green Veined White
This fairly familiar butterfly is one of my favourites, it has a subtle beauty which would be celebrated if it were not so common. It seems to haunt the most inhospitable places including high barren moorland in Northern England where the top left photo was taken.
Subspecies meridionalis, seen in France, shows how little green veining there may be, in contrast to the other butterfly images here.
