Pyrgus sidae - Yellow-banded Skipper

Pyrgus-sidae--yellow-banded-skipper | PTKbutterflies

This very large Pyrgus Skipper is mostly known for the yellow bands on the underside, which make it unmistakeable. The above butterfly photograph was taken in Turkey in early June, and the butterfly paused for a short time, never revealed it's underside, and shot off, not to be seen again. The complete row of hindwing upperside marginal spots is of note.

I have therefore still never seen the hindwing underside of this butterfly species!
