Vanessa cardui - Painted Lady
A remarkable traveller, the Painted Lady butterfly breeds itself Northwards each year from North Africa, and even seems to migrate South in late season.
I have witnessed them in some years passing purposefully and arrow like Northwards, through the garden in numbers of maybe 10 per minute, flying seemingly separately, but with a single purpose, to grace Northern regions with their beautiful presence, and enable my photography.
