It's funny that there are some butterflies you really want to see more than others... this was one of those for me. I have encountered it in the Pyrenees and in the Alps and have managed to obtain a half decent butterfly photograph or two. 

 

The closed wing shot was of one I rescued (??) being dragged towards an ants nest. I'm not certain it wasn't paralyzed or poisoned, as it did behave rather well for the photos I took. I left it in a considerably safer place than I found it.
